| Receiving
the 2005 American Indian Science and Engineering Society Professional
of the Year Award. |
I have been involved in Native American science education for many years.
Through Sandia National Laboratories, I worked with three tribal colleges
and a liberal arts college that served many Native
Americans in Montana.
I brought students from these schools to my lab for the summer.
For many years, I did research in heterogeneous catalysis. I organized
the first National Laboratories Catalysis Research Symposium.
Collaboration with industry led to an interest in technical
transfer – both
in the U.S. and abroad. For more click here.
Recently, my work at Sandia has been in International Security,
working entirely in cooperative programs – programs that rely
on international cooperation of scientists and engineers to improve
our mutual
security.
The last two years I have worked with chemists in Asia and the
Middle East.
